Introduction and history of the home

Murata Rescue Center is a project of the ACK Diocese of Thika. The home was established in 2004 to cater for the rising number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) living in deprived environments not conducive. The home is meant to enable these children lead empowered and dignified lives.

The home is located at Kiganjo estate in the Thika municipality. It was constructed through the joint effort of the diocese and Mohanlal shah. The home is run by board members appointed by the Bishop, who oversee the center’s smooth running and catering the welfare of the children which includes their education, clothing, and shelter, psychological and psychosocial needs.

The mission of the home is to provide the orphaned children from deprived social and economic backgrounds with shelter, nurture and developmental needs requisite for the realization of their full potential. The vision being an excellent Christian center for nurturing and developing needy orphans into responsible citizens. A holistic transformed community of young people equipped for gainful placement and self-reliance.
